About Dry Construction

Dry construction refers to the construction of buildings using dry materials, including gypsum or wallboard, plywood, rock wool or glass wool, and supporting metal frames, without the use of wet construction materials such as brick, mortar, and plaster. Dry construction techniques have gained widespread adoption in many developed economies and are becoming popular in developing countries, due to their various advantages over wet construction, such as shorter construction times and insulation features. Dry construction materials have more aesthetically pleasing designs and allow for easy remodeling of existing building structures.

The analysts forecast the global dry construction market to grow at a CAGR of 5.58% during the period 2017-2021.

New Report Released: - Global Dry Construction Market 2017-2021

The author of the report recognizes the following companies as the key players in the global dry construction market: Armstrong, Etex, Knauf Gips, Saint-Gobain, and Xella.

Other Prominent Vendors in the market are: Beijing New Building Material, Everest, Fletcher Building, Georgia-Pacific Gypsum and Georgia-Pacific Wood Products, Grupo Promax, Masterplast, NATIONAL GYPSUM PROPERTIES, PABCO Building Products, SOPREMA, USG, and YOSHINO GYPSUM.

Commenting on the report, an analyst from the research team said: “One trend in the market is rising demand for LVT (luxury vinyl tile) flooring. Resilient flooring products form a significant share of the overall dry construction market. The resilient flooring segment includes various types of floor coverings, including vinyl, which comprises of vinyl composite tile (VCT), solid vinyl tile (SVT), and LVT; linoleum; cork; and rubber. However, the LVT flooring segment is currently the fastest growing among the various resilient flooring products, whose adoption is expected to witness further growth during the forecast period.”

According to the report, one driver in the market is rise in global construction and infrastructure development activities. The rise in the global building construction and infrastructure activities is the most significant factor that will drive the demand in the global dry construction market. The number of new constructions in several developed and emerging countries is on the rise after prolonged depression in the construction market. The residential housing completions in the US, for instance, grew by 8.2% during July 2016 to 2017. The recovery in the US economy has created optimism among the home buyers, leading to a demand for new single and multi-family homes. It is also expected that the pent-up demand from the recession period will also drive the demand in the housing market.

Further, the report states that one challenge in the market is comparatively costlier than brick and mortar construction. One of the major challenges faced by the dry construction market is its cost disadvantage when compared with wet construction. This may prove to be a deterring factor for its adoption in many emerging countries, where home buyers or end-customers can be price sensitive. Dry constructions require prefabricated panels and structures, which are made in factories using advanced techniques. Moreover, much of the wallboards and partitions may be made of wood or gypsum as a base, which may not be available in abundance in all countries. This makes the raw materials for dry construction costlier than cement and mortar.

The study was conducted using an objective combination of primary and secondary information including inputs from key participants in the industry. The report contains a comprehensive market and vendor landscape in addition to a SWOT analysis of the key vendors.
