To apply for the PMI-PBA® Credential, you need to have the following

Educational Experience:
  • A Secondary Degree (High School Diploma, Associate's Degree, or the Global equivalent)
  • A Bachelors degree or higher degree or equivalent global degree
Business Analysis Experience:
  • 7500 hours (5 years) working as a practitioner of business analysis
  • 4500 hours (3 years) working as a practitioner of business analysis
This experience must have been earned in the last 8 consecutive years.

General Project Experience:
  • 2000 hours working on project teams within the past eight consecutive years
Training in Business Analysis:
  • 35 contact hours

Passing the PMI-PBA® Certification Exam will give you the credential from PMI®, USA.

The Exam:

The PMI-PBA® exam is comprised of 200 multiple-choice questions that have to be answered in 4 hours. Of the 200 questions, 25 are considered pre-test questions and do not affect the score. All questions are randomly distributed throughout the exam. A pass/fail result score is generated based on your overall performance on the examination, and the passing score is determined by subject matter experts from across the globe.

Please note that as part of PMI’s Continuing Certification Requirements program, a PMI-PBA® credential holder will need to earn 30 PDUs per three-year cycle.

  • Evaluating Options and Capabilities using Decision-Making
  • Allocating Requirements to Create a Requirements Baseline
  • Obtaining Stakeholder Consensus in order to Obtain Sign-off
  • Defining Requirements Specifications
  • Validating Requirements using Tools and Techniques
  • Detailing out Business Metrics and Acceptance Criteria
Traceability and Monitoring (this section comprises 15 percent of the Exam)
  • Tracking the Status, Sources, and Relationships of Requirements using Artifacts or Tools
  • Monitoring the Lifecycle of Requirements
  • Updating the Status of Requirements and Recording Changes by Communicating with Stakeholders
  • Communicating Important Requirements Information and Status with Stakeholders and Project Managers
  • Managing Changes to the Requirements by evaluating Impacts, Dependencies and Risks
Evaluation (this section comprises 10 percent of the Exam)
  • Validating Solutions Test Results against Defined Requirements Acceptance Criteria
  • Analyzing, Communicating, and Resolving Solution Gap Analysis
  • Obtaining Stakeholder Sign-off and Proceeding Toward Deployment
