Wine Packaging
Growth in the US wine packaging market will total 4.4 percent per year through 2019 in value terms.  Advances will be driven by continued favorable gains in domestic wine consumption and production along with the importance of packaging in enhancing the perception of the wine’s quality.
This report segments the wine packaging industry by Containers, Closures, and Other Packaging.  Data is provided in million US dollars and million units.
Wine containers include: - Glass Bottles - Bag-in-Box Packaging - Plastic Bottles - Aseptic Cartons - Other Containers (e.g., pouches, aluminum cans, cups and goblets, kegs)
Glass bottles, the traditional wine container, will remain the leading wine container type through 2019.  Containers other than glass bottles will experience more rapid gains over the forecast period, fueled by advantages of economy, convenience, and shatter resistance.
Wine closures include: - Natural Corks - Synthetic Corks - Aluminum Screw Caps - Other Closures (e.g., plastic closures, metal crowns, glass stoppers)
Corks, including natural and technical types, were the leading wine closure type in 2014.  Aluminum screw caps and plastic closures will be the fastest growing wine closure types through 2019, with aluminum screw cap advances driven by strong opportunities for wine packaged in non-glass containers.
Other wine packaging includes: - Labels - Capsules - Boxes & Carriers - Wire Hoods - Bulk Packaging
Labels were the largest type of other wine packaging in 2014.  Above average growth is expected for boxes and carriers, aided by favorable prospects for 187-ml wine bottles.
Approximately 100 companies supply wine packaging to the US market, ranging from global packaging concerns to small companies specializing in a single product type.  Leading suppliers include Amcor, Ardagh, Corticeira Amorim, CCL Industries, G3 Enterprises, E& J Gallo Winery, Maverick Enterprises, Multi-Color, Nomacorc, Owens-Illinois, and Scholle.
