The global automotive die casting lubricants market is expected to reach USD 1.45 billion, by 2023. The market is expected to register a CAGR close to 10% during the forecast period.

Market Scenario

Automotive die casting lubricants are used in the die casting of automotive components. A high-pressure die casting machine has many moving parts that require lubrication. The molten material sticks to the die surface at a heated temperature, and thus, the application of lubricant is essential for proper release of the die-casted part. Additionally, complex dies for casting are being designed in single castings, to reduce the assembly and joining procedure. The complexity of dies leads to uneven cooling, thus, requiring lubricants for thermal management and for the proper uniformity and finish of the casted part. The continued push for improved productivity in the high-pressure die cast industry, places an ever increasing performance and productivity demands on die lubricants. The majority of new technological developments in die lubricants have been spurred by developments in automotive castings. The relentless push for vehicle weight reduction and improved productivity requirements, coupled with the casting of larger and more complex parts, has brought forward the necessity of significant innovations in die lubricants.

Asia Pacific to Dominate the Market Growth

Asia Pacific is expected to hold a dominant share in the global automotive die casting lubricants market, over the forecast period. This segment held around 50% value share of the global market, by volume, in 2016.
