Thailand LNG demand will triple by 2025, with significant further upside potential. With only 5.2 mmtpa contracted, Thailand still needs to contract between 4 mmtpa and 10 mmtpa by 2025, providing a clear market opening for suppliers. As the market tends towards liberalising, EGAT has ambitions to join PTT as an LNG importer this year. Further pipeline gas supply developments and the pace of coal penetration in the power mix remain salient factors that could influence the pace of LNG demand growth.
