Although the massive MU-MIMO suffers some critical security drawbacks that could compromise pilot channels of a network and has a high signal to noise ratio, technical advancements over time are expected to address these issues propelling the market over the forecast period.
North America to Forefront the Growth
North America is one of the most advanced markets for mobile communications and MIMO technology in the world. According to Samsung, the total number of mobile subscribers in the US market alone exceed 300 million as of 2016, excluding IoT devices. This number is expected to grow by another 40 million with more than 70% of all subscribers using LTE through 2022. In case of the US, companies AT&T, Verizon, T-Mobile and Sprint account for nearly 95% of all subscriptions. As of 2017, the company had 204MHz consisting of a mix of low, mid, and high bands with over 160MHz of spectrum in the 2.5GHz band (highly feasible for LTE plus networks). This has attracted T-Mobile to acquire the company for USD 26 billion making it one of the largest bandwidth holders in the country. Over the forecast period, such expansions amongst the key players in the region are expected to drive the demand for massive MIMO in the region.

- May 2018 - T-Mobile Inc., has acquired Sprint Communications. The USD 26 billion acquisition is expected help T-Mobile to compete with companies like AT&T and Verizon.
