Glyphosate based products are the leading post-emergent, systemic and non selective herbicides for the control of annual and perennial weeds. Due to their efficiency, the use of glyphosate based herbicides is steadily growing. It has also lowered the technical barriers to conservation tillage, helping to foster less environmentally impactful farming practices.

Based on Method, foliar consumes a less time and ensures a better weed cover compared to the submerged application. Aquatic herbicides can be applied as a foliar spray, sprayed or injected directly into the water column, or applied as a granular pellet. It is used to control emergent aquatic plant species. Foliar application of herbicides entails spraying the leaves of target plants with a low concentration of herbicide in a water carrier. The spray can be applied with a hand-powered, backpack sprayer or larger, motorized sprayers. Foliar treatments are least effective.
