Brand new for 2018, the European Biomass Investment Face File covers projects across 23 key markets where at least five separate investments with an energy-from-biomass focus have been identified. The report highlights the growing trend in the use of renewables and biomass to generate power across the continent.

The data in this report is taken from the researchers proprietary business database. It begins with a series of overview pages which provide a global setting in which to place the individual country data that follows, finished with a listing of all projects used to compile this information.

Each of the 23 countries covered is displayed across four pages; you will find summary data for national power generation, how biomass plays its role, the type and location of investments and the status the projects are currently at.

Snapshot:

  • Covers 729 energy-from-biomass projects with a combined investment value of US$49.0 billion.
  • Wood is by far the largest in terms of feedstocks, accounting for around $29.8 billion of investments.
  • Markets such as Scandinavia, Austria and the Baltics are further developed than others in the use of renewables and biomass.
  • France, Germany and the UK have been investing heavily in the industry in recent years.
  • Around 71% of projects included are currently operational, equal to US$26.9 billion.
  • It is expected that US$5.2 billion of investment is due to become operational during 2018.
