Power Surge: the Industry Will Continue Benefiting from Renewable Energy Growth
Electric Power Transmission in Illinois
Over the five years to 2017, fluctuating rates and capricious consumption have caused the Electric Power Transmission industry in Illinois to stagnate. During the early half of the period, The Illinois Commerce Commission increased rates, driving revenue upward. Yet, since 2015, price growth has been insufficient in keeping up with inflation and greater energy efficiency has slowed overall power use. Over the five years to 2022, the manufacturing GDP of Illinois is expected to increase, helping to bolster electric power demand. Additionally, Illinois's renewable portfolio standards will provide rate increases for renewable energy transmission investments. In total, over the next five years, retail electricity sales are projected to increase.
This industry transmits and distributes electricity from power generators to distribution centers, other electric utilities and final consumers. The transmission system includes lines and transformer stations, while the distribution system consists of lines, poles, meters and wiring that deliver the electricity to final consumers. This industry does not generate electricity.
This report covers the scope, size, disposition and growth of the industry including the key sensitivities and success factors. Also included are five year industry forecasts, growth rates and an analysis of the industry key players and their market shares.
