Freshened Up: Industry Revenue is Anticipated to Rebound in Line With the Overall Economy
Remediation & Environmental Cleanup Services in California
Revenue for the Remediation and Environmental Cleanup Services industry in California trends similarly to trends in the state's construction sector. Furthermore, because environmental cleanup contracts are so large, often reaching tens of millions of dollars, crude oil production, which is vulnerable to leaks, also affects industry revenue. Over the five years to 2018, industry revenue is expected to increase due to growth in crude oil production in California. Additionally, the industry's growth can be attributed to the value of nonresidential construction, which has grown sharply over the past five years, spurring demand for remediation services. Over the five years to 2023, industry revenue is expected to continue increasing, albeit at a slower rate. California's construction sector is forecast to remain strong during the outlook period. As a result, demand for site and building remediation services is forecast to increase, which will benefit industry revenue growth.
Industry companies remediate contaminated buildings, soil and ground water; remove hazardous material; and abate toxic materials, such as asbestos and lead. Industry operators also undertake mine reclamation activities including demolition, wastewater treatment and revegetation. Although the industry includes revenue generated through state and federally funded cleanup projects in California, it excludes budget outlays to government agencies that engage directly in services.
This report covers the scope, size, disposition and growth of the industry including the key sensitivities and success factors. Also included are five year industry forecasts, growth rates and an analysis of the industry key players and their market shares.
