Ceramic Fiber, also known as High-temperature insulation wool (HTIW) is a type of mineral wool used for high temperature insulation applications in several energy intensive industries to prevent heat loss and save energy. They are used primarily as insulation for furnaces and foundries.

Demand Scenario

The global ceramic fiber market will reach 2.9 billion USD by 2023 from 1.6 billion USD in 2017 with a CAGR of 10.42% during the period.

Growth by Region

Asia - Pacific will be the fastest growing region during the forecasted period owing to factors such as growth of construction, automotive and manufacturing industries, and increasing R&D investments in countries of the region. On the other hand, North America will have steady growth rate due to growing demand from iron & steel and petrochemical industries.

Drivers Vs. Constraints

The characteristics of ceramic fiber such as lightweight, high thermal conductivity, thermal shock resistance, high temperature stability and high chemical resistance are the primary factors driving the market growth. Increasing awareness for energy conservation is driving the market. On the other hand, high cost of production and carcinogenic nature of ceramic fibers are restraining the market growth.

Industry Trends and Updates

In March 2018, GE Aviation to start production plant to produce ceramic matrix composite, which is used in jet engines.
