This report is based on independent research studying how airlines are implementing EFB technology, and showcasing how the technology is trending for the industry. This year’s report is based on completed surveys from 80 airlines, which is 40% increased response rate over 2014. Given the variance in response rate, it is noted there may be some changes in the data. The survey grows because it covers a complex industry with rapidly changing technologies. Ensuring that as many angles as
possible have been covered requires lots of questions.
Having undertaken these surveys for several years airlines, industry observers and participants can be provided views on how EFB deployment is evolving. Historic research has been combined, so where possible, we can illustrate how the evolution is taking place. The charts in the report illustrate the impact of evolving technologies, especially connectivity. There is, once again, a lot to consider from the feedback provided by the participating airlines.
The aim is to stabilize the survey as much as possible, thereby keeping the burden time low while providing continuous useful insight. However, issues like e-Enablement and vendor interest (tablet mounts) in the survey caused some questions to evolve or change completely.
