Market Insights

The market for shoulder-fired weapons is anticipated to grow at a CAGR of about 3.04% during the forecast period. Replacement of ageing commercial aircraft coupled with increased defence expenditure in developing countries shall drive the aviation market in the coming years.

Market Dynamics

There has been a continuous increase in the number of passengers who travel by air each year. Simultaneously, there has been a continual increase in the demand for new aircraft by the airlines to satisfy this growing demand.

At present, there are more than 5,000 commercial airplanes in service currently in the world. In addition, there are many orders that are being taken up for the production of new aircraft around the world.

The orders for new aircraft have increased at a greater pace for the leading aircraft manufacturers in the last year. In 2017, Airbus took 1,109 orders for the production of new airliners, while Boeing took 912 orders. These numbers show the demand for new aircraft by the airliners.

Earlier in November 2017, Airbus has signed a deal with Indigo airlines to sell 430 Airbus' single-aisle A320 neo family airliners jetliners. This is one of the largest orders in the history of commercial aviation. Growing demand for new airliners is the main reason for the growth of orders like these on a large scale.

With increasing orders for new aircraft, there will be an increase in the requirement of new engines and simultaneously there will be the requirement for the incorporation of advanced FADEC systems in the newer aircraft that are being manufactured.

The global military expenditure experienced an increase of 1.1 % from 2016 to reach USD 1,739 billion in 2017. Developing countries have astonishing levels of poverty, yet their governments choose to devote a significant proportion of their resources to military spending

Militaries across Philippines, Thailand, Vietnam, Brazil, Argentina, Israel, Turkey, India, Pakistan and China are expected to spend a lot of their defence budget in procuring new military aircraft and related equipment in the forecast period, with deliveries going as far as 10 years beyond 2023.

Defence spending, once dominated by the west, is poised to have a larger share from the developing regions, due to an increase in war and civil unrest driving the military aviation segment.
