The Intragastric balloon industry products are used widely for different purposes. The flattened gastric balloon is inserted into the stomach, through the esophagus. A needle is then used to seal the balloon with a saline solution that is sterilized. ReShape Dual Balloon Integrated System (ReShape Dual Balloon) is a dual balloon unit. The double-balloon device can provide a level of safety: when one balloon leaks or ruptures, a blue dye in the urine informs the patient that there is a problem.

The device, called the ReShape Dual Balloon (ReShape Medical), is inserted through the mouth endoscopically and then filled with saline. A gastric balloon is an effective device for kick-start weight loss, and when patients embrace smaller portion sizes and emphasis on lean proteins and vegetables, the balloons also result in diet and exercise alone doubling or tripling the weight loss.

The cost-effectiveness and safety of intragastric balloons is expected to play an important role in market growth. The treatments for intragastric balloon implantation are safer and lower-cost alternatives to bariatric surgery, which is an invasive weight loss procedure that causes multiple risks after surgery. The cost of these procedures is also considerably higher than the intragastric balloons plantation. Therefore, non-surgical and less-invasive weight loss procedures such as intragastric balloon implantation are becoming increasingly common.
