This technology utilizes the urinary bladder and the intra-abdominal and extra-peritoneal organs for indirect pressure measurement.

Measurement of intra-abdominal pressure is advised every 2 to 4 hours in order to take timely corrective steps. Some patients may experience gut ischemia before the elevation of intraabdominal pressure and thus decision-making on management must be based on overall clinical results.
