Introduction

A ventilator is a life-saving machine that provides mechanical ventilation by moving breathable air into and out of the lungs, to deliver breaths to a patient who is physically unable to breathe, or breathing insufficiently. Ventilators are used for patients with chronic diseases like asthma, respiratory syndrome, or even in case of sudden outbreaks of respiratory diseases like COVID-19 etc. These ventilators are also known by other names such as a respirator, breathing machine, or mechanical ventilation. Apart from the difficulty in breathing, they are also used during the surgery and recovery from the surgery.

Increasing number of ICUs and ICU beds, rising incidences of respiratory diseases, growing pollution levels and rapid growth in the geriatric population are some of the factors which are expected to propel the growth of the global ventilator market. Factors such as the high cost of ventilators, resistance from Physicians for technology transitions, and complications associated with the use of ventilators are expected to hinder the market growth.
