There is no specific regulation applicable to heated tobacco products in Chile and no product has been marketed yet.
Law 19.419, from now on the Tobacco Act, regulates activities related to tobacco and defines tobacco products as those prepared totally or in part using tobacco leaf as a raw material, and intended to be smoked, sucked, chewed or sniffed. Provided that heated tobacco is consumed through inhalation - and so without combustion - these products could not qualify as tobacco product and therefore the Act is not applicable to heated tobacco products.
