International trucking by road is convenient for transporting cargo over short distances between countries on the same continent, as it is relatively fast, it is possible to use different types of transport depending on the type of cargo, as well as to quickly change the route for cargo with a certain weight and optimize the cost of transportation by completing groupage cargoes. However, despite a number of advantages of this type of cargo transportation, there are also disadvantages: human factor, weather conditions, repair of road surface, dependence on fuel costs and others. Over the last year, fuel prices have shown a decline. This is due to a number of factors. One of them is the change in oil prices on the world market due to a decrease or increase in production in countries that are the main producers of this product. Also, inflationary processes and changes in the currency exchange rate in the country directly affect the cost of oil products, as this type of resource is imported to Ukraine. Changes in retail prices for diesel in Ukraine are presented below.
The reasons for the drop in fuel prices are the decline in oil prices on the world market and the relatively stable exchange rate of the hryvnia. The graph also shows the period when oil prices became negative: accordingly, we see an increase in the rate of decline in diesel prices. In addition, demand for fuel fell in the spring of 2020 due to quarantine.
One of the significant problems of the market is the lack of a strategic plan at the state level for the development of important sectors of the economy. This leads to a lack of understanding of the development trends of various sectors of the economy and the inability to plan activities in the medium and long term. Therefore, the decline in a particular sector of the economy has a negative impact on the transport sector that served it.
The international freight transport market by road shows the state of the country's economy as a whole, as it develops in accordance with general market trends in the country. Its condition directly depends on the condition of producers, exporters and importers who are customers of logistics companies. Thus, the demand for logistics services is conditioned by the dynamics of production, domestic and foreign trade. As a result, the market for international freight transport by road has been influenced by a significant number of factors.
