Apoptosis Regulator BAX (Bcl 2 Like Protein 4 or BCL2L4 or BAX) - Apoptosis regulator BAX or bcl-2-like protein 4 is a protein is encoded by the BAX gene. It accelerates programmed cell death by antagonizing the apoptosis repressor BCL2. It promotes activation of CASP3, and thereby apoptosis. It undergoes a conformation change that causes translocation to the mitochondrion membrane, leading to the release of cytochrome c that then triggers apoptosis under stress conditions.

Apoptosis Regulator BAX (Bcl 2 Like Protein 4 or BCL2L4 or BAX) pipeline Target constitutes close to 8 molecules. Out of which approximately 3 molecules are developed by companies and remaining by the universities/institutes. The molecules developed by companies in Phase II and Preclinical stages are 1 and 2 respectively. Similarly, the universities portfolio in Preclinical and Discovery stages comprises 3 and 2 molecules, respectively. Report covers products from therapy areas Oncology, Cardiovascular, Central Nervous System and Ophthalmology which include indications Lung Cancer, Acute Ischemic Stroke, Acute Myelocytic Leukemia (AML, Acute Myeloblastic Leukemia), Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis, Hepatocellular Carcinoma, Melanoma, Myocardial Infarction and Parkinson's Disease.
