Cereal Production in the US
IBISWorld, Feb 2012, Pages: 38
Out of the box: Products for health-conscious and time-poor consumers will drive growth
Cereal Production in the US
Thinking outside the box
As the consumer market is changing, cereal producers are relying on new innovations in healthy and time-saving products to drive industry demand. High commodity prices will prove to be a significant threat to operators, but profits will remain modestly high. While lower-priced private label cereals were in demand during the recession, consumers will shift toward buying major labels again, as sentiment and income levels improve.
The US Cereal Production industry acquires raw materials such as corn, wheat, flour, sugar, malt extract, rice and salt from various sources, and processes these ingredients into ready-to-eat cereals, hot cereals and cereal bars. It also purchases raw materials such as plastic and paperboard containers from other manufacturers for various packaging purposes. The finished breakfast cereals are subsequently sold to grocery wholesalers, retailers and foodservice providers.
This report covers the scope, size, disposition and growth of the industry including the key sensitivities and success factors. Also included are five year industry forecasts, growth rates and an analysis of the industry key players and their market shares.
