Albeit moderate, wine registered positive growth in 2009 both in volume and current value terms fuelled by the rising number of people who drink as a result of the shift in consumption habits. Also the rising Westernisation trend is fuelling this shift in locals’ consumption habits especially women, more of whom have taken up drinking; a practice previously frowned upon in the country.
