The small particle counters are used to monitor a fixed place, generally inside a mini-environment, to continuously monitor particle levels. These small particle counters usually don’t have local display. Instead, they are connected to the network of different particle counters and several other sensors to monitor the total cleanroom performance. This network of sensors is usually associated with FMS (facility monitoring system), programmable logic controller, or data acquisition system.

The advantages of the particle counters include confirming the corrective maintenance, allowing “on-condition” analysis of oil in the laboratory, verifies it the operation of the pump, identifying poor repairs of machinery, confirming the system flushing, verifies it the operation of the centrifuge, and confirming the need for demographic analysis.

It also identifies abnormal gear wear, monitors the wear of the machine, detects high corrosive wear, identifies the existence of abrasive wear, verifies the degree of cleanliness of the lubricant stored and confirms the desired degree of cleaning. Particle counters are further used to identify defects in new filters, determine when the filters should be changed, recognize the by-pass filter's condition, and verify the selected filter's suitability.

Maintaining a healthy indoor atmosphere is necessary as people spend more than two-thirds of a day indoors. By doing this, one can prevent building-related diseases.
