Future planning: A rising maternal age has boosted industry demand and revenue
According to the Fertility Society of Australia, one in six Australian couples suffers from infertility. The Fertility Clinics industry assists patients who are either having difficulty or cannot conceive naturally. The industry includes numerous treatment options, the most popular being in-vitro fertilisation (IVF) cycles. Several factors have driven demand for fertility treatments and procedures in recent years, particularly from women who are having children later in life. Australia is one of the few economically advanced countries in the world that has significant government funding for fertility treatments, which has made industry treatments more affordable.
Medical facilities in the industry offer treatments to aid individuals in conceiving children. These facilities offer diagnosis, medications, intrauterine insemination and other assisted reproductive technology (ART) methods. This includes core ART treatments such as in-vitro fertilisation (IVF) cycles and frozen embryo transfers, in addition to associated ancillary health services such as specialised diagnostic and genetic testing, ultrasounds and related day hospital procedures.
This report covers the scope, size, disposition and growth of the industry including the key sensitivities and success factors. Also included are five year industry forecasts, growth rates and an analysis of the industry's key players and their market shares.
