Slight growth in packaged food sales in 2004 and 2005
Value sales of packaged food products are set to continue their positive development in Germany in 2005, albeit at a relatively low level. Because of the sheer size of the market, this nevertheless amounts to a considerable value increase in absolute terms. Most sectors are expected to contribute to this positive development; those with the highest growth rates will be ready meals, frozen processed food and chilled processed food. The only sectors with slightly declining retail value sales in 2005 are predicted to be bakery products, snack bars and canned/preserved food. The other sectors will all develop at more or less the average level of the packaged food market as a whole
