About Camera Module
Camera module is an image sensor integrated with control electronics and an interface such as camera serial interface (CSI), Ethernet, or plain raw low-voltage differential signaling. A CMOS camera module uses CMOS image sensor. It is different from a CCD camera module, which uses CCD image sensor. Modern CMOS sensors have overcome the limitations of their predecessors and offer superior light sensitivity and contrast ratio. These are now widely preferred over CCD sensors due to better integration possibilities and more functions in consumer electronic devices.

Reduction in the height of camera modules will lead to development of thinner and lighter smartphones and their adoption in other devices such as wearables.”
