New Report Released: - Global NFV Market 2016-2020

The author of the report recognizes the following companies as the key players in the global NFV market: Brocade Communication Systems, Cisco, Ericsson, Juniper Networks, Hewlett-Packard Enterprise, Huawei Technologies, Nokia, and VMware

Other Prominent Vendors in the market are: 6WIND, A10 Networks, Affirmed Networks, Allot Communications, Amdocs, ASTRI, Broadcom, Canonical's Ubuntu, Ciena (Blue Planet), Citrix, Dell, F5 Networks, Fortinet, Fujitsu, GENBAND, Intel, IP Infusion, Ixia, Metaswitch Networks, Mirantis, NEC and Netcracker, NFWare, OneAccess Networks, Oracle, PacketLogic, Palo Alto Networks, PLUMgrid, Quali Systems, Radware. Red Hat, Sonus Networks, Telco Systems, Trend Micro, VeloCloud, Wind River, and ZTE

Commenting on the report, an analyst from the research team said: “OSS refers to specialized software through which a telecom network supports various components within the system such as network operations, service management, and provisioning services whereas BSS refers to software that handles tasks such as customer support processes, billing services, order management, and fraud management. These systems support in streamlining operations and implementing service fulfillment.”

According to the report, SDN is an evolving network architecture in which the network control and the forwarding plane are decoupled and can be programmed directly. This transfer of control from specific network devices to manageable computing devices simplifies the management of network infrastructure in an enterprise environment. SDN provides control to enterprise business operations through a single logical point, simplifying network design and operation. In addition, this architecture streamlines operational functions of network infrastructure through instructions from SDN controllers.

Further, the report states that NFV is a relatively new technology that has gained momentum over the last year. All modern technologies have security vulnerabilities. Vendors are constantly improving their offerings with better security mechanisms. Telecom operators are adopting NFV technology because it provides benefits such as flexibility, agility, and reduced costs. In NFV, telecom operators are moving from secure hardware appliance to less secure software, where there is a possibility of distributed denial of service (DDoS) attacks. Most of the NFVI deployments are based on open source, where there is a higher possibility of security issues.

The study was conducted using an objective combination of primary and secondary information including inputs from key participants in the industry. The report contains a comprehensive market and vendor landscape in addition to a SWOT analysis of the key vendors.
