In Good Hands: Rising Wages and Low Productivity Growth Will Likely Hurt Industry Profit
The Home Care Providers industry in Canada is a growing industry, with a multitude of diverse companies offering services to growing healthcare markets. Industry providers cater largely to the elderly population, which is growing at a rate exceeding the national population growth rate in Canada, as well as to individuals suffering from chronic illnesses and disabilities. There has been a growing trend of health consciousness in the general public, as the population is putting a greater premium on their health and comfort. Compounding this is the aging population, with the number of adults 65 and older increasing over the five years to 2019. Despite some uncertainty surrounding the finalization of a new National Health Accord, the analyst forecasts industry revenue to grow over the five years to 2024.
The industry primarily provides skilled nursing services in the home, combined with a range of other home services such as personal care services, homemaker and companion services, physical therapy, medical social services, dietary and nutritional services, speech therapy, audiology, medications and intravenous therapy. While most home care services are provided by publicly managed agencies, only those services delivered by private operators are counted in this industry.
This report covers the scope, size, disposition and growth of the industry including the key sensitivities and success factors. Also included are five year industry forecasts, growth rates and an analysis of the industry key players and their market shares.
