Powder injection molding (PIM) is an effective process that produces complex components of preferred shape in a variety of materials which include stainless steel, alloys and more which result in reduced secondary as well as assembly operations. Metal injection moulding process (MIM) was developed in 1970’s by Raymond Wiech in the US. In this process, metal powder is combined with a thermoplastic resin called as binder, and the mixture is moulded according to the required shape by the same plastic injection moulding process. However, in 2016 electronics held the largest share in terms of revenue and is growing at a CAGR of 8.35% and projected to reach $755.4m by 2021.
