Slow flow: The effects of COVID-19 have constrained industry revenue growth
Trading conditions for pump and compressor manufacturers have been mixed. Relying on demand from downstream markets, manufacturers have had to deal with the flow-on effects of the pandemic, which disrupted trading activity and led to subdued demand. Construction and oil and gas were key sectors hit by the pandemic, with lockdown periods and a slower economy leading to a lower building investment and reduced demand for pump and compressor products. The oil and gas sector also suffered from stay-at-home restrictions limiting demand for fuel. Volatility in downstream markets created challenging times for manufacturers and ultimately weakened industry revenue.
Industry firms manufacture pumps and pumping systems. A pump is a device used to move fluids (including liquids, gases and slurries) by physical or mechanical action. The industry also manufactures air and gas compressors, except for those used in air conditioning and refrigeration.
This report covers the scope, size, disposition and growth of the industry including the key sensitivities and success factors. Also included are five year industry forecasts, growth rates and an analysis of the industry's key players and their market shares.
