Commenting on the report, an analyst from the research team said: “Vision systems are being used mainly to facilitate pick-and-place operations and enhance speed as they reduce the number of robotic modules of cobots. Such lighter robot, which has less than 60% of the original components can be placed in high volume picking lines and process up to 450 products in a minute. As these cobots have few parts and more visibility, they can also facilitate cleanliness and meet stringent industrial standards. Vision systems can also convert camera pixels into real-time data for ensuring robot coordination with the real world. Vendors such as ABB have designed specialized sensors to improve vision by developing a new generation of Integrated Force Control and Integrated Vision, which enables 2D and 3D vision to enable cobots to function independently.”

According to the report, outsourcing most manufacturing operations to emerging economies such as Mexico and India, which have low labor costs, has a positive influence on the market growth. This deprives growth and development of SMEs of a developed country. Cobots allow these industries to stay competitive despite high labor costs and maintain manufacturing activity in a developed country. This concept is also called reshoring and maintains the balance of manufacturing activity and employment globally. Hence, there is an increased interest among small and medium scale enterprises to incorporate collaborative robots in their factory floor.

Further, the report states that multiple prominences have been given to collaborative robots due to their multiple safety features and lack of expenditure for safety equipment. The common trade for collaborative robots is lower speed and lower payload, unlike traditional industrial robots.
