Global Wireless Telecommunications Carriers
Over the five years to 2019, the Global Wireless Telecommunications Carriers industry has become essential to the daily lives of the world's consumers and businesses. As a result, demand for the industry has grown, with revenue increasing accordingly. Most of the new wireless subscriptions over the five years to 2019 have emanated from emerging markets. There are now over one billion mobile subscribers in China, while India surpassed that mark in 2015. The rapid increase in subscribers from these markets is expected to help increase global industry revenue. spectrum shortages in developed economies will likely continue to encourage consolidation, while emerging markets near saturation over the five years to 2024, enticing carriers to steer their efforts toward expanding average revenue per user. The spectrum shortage is also expected to encourage the development of new small cells and other network equipment to densify existing carrier networks.
Operators in this industry operate and maintain switching and transmission facilities to provide direct communications via wireless radio transmission. Wireless services include cellular voice telephony services, messaging services, broadband data services and mobile backhaul services (i.e. transferring data from small subnetworks to a network core). Carriers may also retail mobile handsets and other equipment to consumers. The industry does not include mobile virtual network operators.
This report covers the scope, size, disposition and growth of the industry including the key sensitivities and success factors. Also included are five year industry forecasts, growth rates and an analysis of the industry key players and their market shares.
