Stagnating incomes and depressed economic confidence have held back spending on motorcycles. However, demand for repair and maintenance has risen as the number of motorcycles on UK roads has grown and people have opted to repair rather than buy new to save money. Revenue is anticipated to drop at a compound annual rate of 3% over the five years through 2023-24 to £2.4 billion, including an estimated fall of 0.5% in 2023-24. Since most motorcycles and parts sold are imported, the weak pound has inflated purchase costs for dealerships, squeezing profitability.
