Commenting on the report, an analyst from the research team said: “One of the major trends in the global food and beverage packaging industry is the emphasis on lightweight packages. Lightweight packaging materials allow vendors to reduce the cost of transportation. In 2014, Sidel launched pasteurizable lightweight PET bottles for beer with a non-petaloid base. In 2013, Ball Corporation introduced lightweight cans in Europe. These new beer cans contain 25% recycled aluminum and are 10% lighter than their previous versions. The company also introduced the ultralight can that is 5% lighter than the standard beverage can. With the introduction of lightweight cans, the company estimates that there will be a reduction of 19,000 metric tons of aluminum each year.”

According to the report, the global beer packaging market will grow moderately during the forecast period. The major contributors to the beer packaging market are China, Germany, and the US. There will be a robust increase in beer consumption in countries in South America and Asia, especially in Brazil, China, and India. One of the major reasons for the growth of the market is the introduction of lightweight beer bottles, which are cost-effective and environment-friendly.

Further, the report states that government regulations on environmental protection and emphasis on reducing energy costs compel the manufacturers to develop machinery as per the new standards and regulations. Companies focus on reducing the emission of greenhouse gases and differentiating their products from those of their competitors. Food manufacturers emphasize on sustainable packaging to reduce the consumption of packaging material and increase the shelf life of the packaged products.

The study was conducted using an objective combination of primary and secondary information including inputs from key participants in the industry. The report contains a comprehensive market and vendor landscape in addition to a SWOT analysis of the key vendors.
