About Sanitizer

Alcohol-based sanitizers contain at least 70% alcohol, mainly ethyl alcohol, which tend to kill 99.9% of the bacteria on hand after application within 30 seconds, and 99.99% to 99.999% within a minute. Alcohol kills both pathogenic microorganisms as well as resident bacterial flora, thus avoiding illness. Research shows that alcohol hand sanitizers do not eliminate good microorganisms naturally present on the skin. The body quickly replenishes the good microbes, moving them in from the arms where fewer harmful microorganisms are present. However, alcohol also strips the skin of the outer layer of oil, which negatively affects the wall function of the skin.

The analysts forecast the global sanitizer market to grow at a CAGR of 6.75% during the period 2017-2021.

New Report Released: – Global Sanitizer Market 2017-2021

The author of the report recognizes the following companies as the key players in the global sanitizer market: 3M, P&G, Reckitt Benckiser, and Unilever

Other Prominent Vendors in the market are: Bath & Body Works, Best Sanitizers, BioSafe Systems, Chemtex Speciality, Deb Group, Ecolab, GOJO Industries, Henkel, Kimberly-Clark, Lion Corporation, Nice-Pak Products, Sealed Air, Skinvisible Pharmaceuticals, The Clorox Company, Troy Chemical Industries, and Vi-Jon

Commenting on the report, an analyst from the research team said: “With the growing concern for health and environment risks associated with hand sanitizers, vendors are coming up with new products to retain their market share. Eco-friendly sanitizers are gaining traction in the market. They are made with ethyl alcohol, which is a bio-based ingredient, and water. Both are plant-based ingredients that are renewable. Therefore, these kind of hand sanitizers can be considered as a green product. For instance, PURELL has launched a green hand sanitizer that is made with plant-based ethanol and sold in a recyclable PET plastic container. Hand sanitizers have also started coming in small sized bottles, which are easy to carry while traveling. There are hand sanitizers with different fragrances as well as those that are fragrance-free. Similarly, there are alcohol-based sanitizers as well as those that are alcohol-free. Thus, consumers have a lot of choices to choose from as per their requirements. This is resulting in an increasing demand for hand sanitizers in the market.”

According to the report, according to the CDC, one of the important ways to avoid the transmission of dangerous diseases is to regularly wash hands with soap and water or use a hand sanitizer. Hand sanitizer is recommended when there is a lack of soap and water. It contains at least 60% alcohol or contains a persistent antiseptic, which kills many kinds of bacteria, including antibiotic-resistant bacteria and tuberculosis bacteria. According to research, hand sanitizing is more effective against fighting the common cold than hand washing.

Further, the report states that there are various health risks associated with the use of hand sanitizers. There are two kinds of bacteria in an individual's body –– one that results in illness and another that acts as an antibiotic to eliminate the disease-causing bacteria. Hand sanitizers contain triclosan. Frequent use of hand sanitizers can not only kill the bacteria but also build up a resistance to antibiotics. Triclosan is a primary element that contributes toward increasing the resistance to antibiotics by killing good bacteria.

The study was conducted using an objective combination of primary and secondary information including inputs from key participants in the industry. The report contains a comprehensive market and vendor landscape in addition to a SWOT analysis of the key vendors.
