About Fabric Conditioner

Fabric conditioner is a constituent added to clothes during the washing process to make them softer and more durable. The chemicals in these products also remove stains and prevent the fabric from developing static electricity, extending the life of the garment. A fabric conditioner functions by depositing a lubricating chemical on the fabric, which imparts it softness, reduces static cling, and maintains the shape of the garment. Most conditioning products contain added fragrances. Fabric conditioners are available in various forms such as liquids, crystals, capsules, sprays, and sheets.

This format was launched so that users do not have to be concerned about the volume of the conditioner being used as the capsule contains a specific amount of conditioner.”

According to the report, concentrated fabric conditioners are formulas that have a thicker consistency and are less diluted than traditional fabric conditioners. These concentrated formulas can serve the purpose of their traditional counterparts efficiently at much less quantities. The consumer can dilute the product according to their choice. This means that the same end-product at a consumer level requires much less packaging and lower amounts of water during the manufacturing process. Also, as concentrated fabric conditioners take up less space per unit, they can be transported in greater quantities, which reduces fuel consumption and transportation costs. Hence, vendors are able to save time and money when manufacturing concentrated fabric conditioners. Unilever's Comfort offers some of the most popular concentrated fabric conditioners in the market. Leveraging the growing demand for concentrated products, other vendors in the market, such as Kao, are also launching high-concentration fabric conditioner products in the market.

Further, the report states that while fabric conditioners are essential to the maintenance of fabric quality, they also may contain toxic or harmful substances that affect indoor air quality and make the fabric more flammable. Some of the chemicals found in fabric conditioners are chloroform, ethyl acetate, and limonene.
