This is leading to new developments such as AeroRotors by StopTech. AeroRotors is the patented technology of StopTech that offers 61% greater airflow. The AeroRotors kits are designed to replace vehicle’s rotors by keeping vehicle calipers intact. These rotors have elongated drive pin holes that allow independent expansion of the rotor. Its vane is designed in such a manner that pushes 61% more airflow for better cooling. Additionally, StopTech used aircraft-grade aluminum. AeroRotors allows the kit to be 8 pounds lighter than existing rotors. The reduced weight gave faster acceleration and deceleration and improved handling. There is also an option of anti-corrosion zinc finish available for customers living in cold weather conditions.”

According to the report, according to WHO, 1.25 million people died in road accidents in 2015 with highest road traffic fatalities in low-income and developing countries. In the last three to four years, 17 countries have aligned at least one of their laws with best practice on seat belts, speed limits, child restraints and drunken driving.

Further, the report states that automotive OEMs are subject to heavy cost pressures due to the dynamism in the regulatory environment and demanding consumer base. Environment and safety standards are pressurizing OEMs to find means to comply with regulations, while not transmitting additional costs to the consumer. Controlling emissions are bound to increase the cost of the vehicle. For instance, according to National Automobile Dealers Association, the US CAFE standards (that become effective in 2016) may hike manufacturing cost of a vehicle by $1,000. In addition, the OEMs need to innovate on drivetrain technologies to accommodate lower emission standards. Dynamic standards will further affect the cost of R&D and production processes. Further, consumers demanding advanced features at competitive prices will add to the already cost pressurized OEMs. In addition to this, as per NHTSA, a new rule in 2014 requires all light vehicles (including cars, SUVs, trucks, and vans) to have a backup camera by 2018. The rule holds good from May 1, 2016, models, and manufacturers must achieve 100% compliance by May 1, 2018. This will also increase the vehicle costs because OEMs have to bear the costs and not pass it on to the end customers to sustain competition.
