About Non-GMO Animal Feed

The global animal feed market is expected to grow at a stable pace during the forecast period. The increasing awareness of the health benefits of animal feed is driving this market. Also, the increased per capita consumption of meat at a global scale, mostly because of the increase in the overall population, is contributing to the demand for animal feed. The market is also witnessing an increasing demand for feed enzymes. However, the irregular inspection by regulatory authorities of the mixing of feed by farmers acts as the major challenge for the market's growth.

The analysts forecast the global non-GMO animal feed market to grow at a CAGR of 7.47% during the period 2017-2021.

New Report Released: – Global Non-GMO Animal Feed Market 2017-2021

The author of the report recognizes the following companies as the key players in the global non-GMO animal feed market: Canadian Organic Feeds, Hiland Naturals, Scratch and Peck Feeds, SunOpta, Texas Natural Feeds, and Zeeland Farm Services.

Other Prominent Vendors in the market are: Intersil, MediaTek, Microchip Atmel, Microsemi, NXP Semiconductors, ON Semiconductor, Qorvo, Skyworks Solutions, and STMicroelectronics.

Commenting on the report, an analyst from the research team said: “One trend in market is focus on sustainable alternatives to GM soya animal feed. Animal feed products constitute about 40%-50% of the overall world’s harvest. Crops such as soya, maize, cotton seeds, and oilseeds are the major types of animal feed (about 90% of the soya produced in the world is used as animal feed as it is a major source of protein for ruminants and non-ruminants). However, GM soybeans have the largest share in the overall soya production in the world. Even though widespread global consumer concerns related to GM crops have forced many food manufacturers to eliminate GM ingredients from foods for human consumption, GM crops still represent the largest form of animal feed worldwide owing to their low price.”

According to the report, one driver in market is government restrictions on GMO crop cultivations in regions like EU. As the demand for non-GMO food and feed products is increasing worldwide, various government authorities across the world are coming up with regulations and restrictions on the cultivation and imports of GMO foods to curb their production and marketing. This is primarily being done to safeguard the global population and environment from the damages caused by GM crops. For example, as of October 2015, a total of 38 countries in the world banned the cultivation of GM crops. Further, only 28 countries in the world produce GM crops and many of them have less than 500,000 acres of land area under GM cultivation. This is largely impacting the supply of GM feed products worldwide. To bridge the widening gap between the demand for and supply of animal feed, the adoption of non-GMO feed products has increased manifold.

Further, the report states that one challenge in market is need for alternatives of high-protein crops such as soya. With the growth in the global population base, the demand for food is increasing exponentially. The changes in the diet patterns of consumers in these countries are fueling the demand for grain-intensive animal protein and dairy products. With the rising demand for meat products, the consumption of food grains by the animal feed industry is increasing. To meet this high demand, crop yield must be enhanced through innovative agricultural methods. Soya, the largest source of protein for animals, is not able to sustain the high demand. Even though soybean production is increasing annually, to match up with the increasing meat demand, alternatives to soya grains are required as the demand and supply gap is increasing. Other high-protein crops such as white lupin and legumes can be ideal alternatives to soy as these have similar levels of protein content.

The study was conducted using an objective combination of primary and secondary information including inputs from key participants in the industry. The report contains a comprehensive market and vendor landscape in addition to a SWOT analysis of the key vendors.
