About Cut Resistant Gloves

A glove is a personal protective equipment (PPE) that covers the whole hand. It is used for protection from heat, cold, chemical reactions, and injuries. Gloves are used for personal as well as industrial applications to protect the wearer from cuts, abrasions, heat, impacts, and vibrations. Cut-resistant gloves are designed to protect worker's hands against injuries while working with sharp tools. Cut-resistant gloves are used in applications that require workers to use sharp objects. These gloves protect workers from cuts, abrasions, and stretches. There are mainly three types of cuts that workers are subjected to, namely, abrasion cuts, slicing cuts, and impact cuts.

The analysts forecast the global cut resistant gloves market to grow at a CAGR of 8.32% during the period 2017-2021.

New Report Released: – Global Cut Resistant Gloves Market 2017-2021

The author of the report recognizes the following companies as the key players in the global cut resistant gloves market: Ansell, Honeywell International, Kimberly-Clark, and 3M.

Other Prominent Vendors in the market are: Banom, Dexter-Russell, John Tillman, Magid Glove, MCR Safety, Superior Glove, TOWA, Worldwide Protective Products, and Wells Lamont Industrial.

Commenting on the report, an analyst from the research team said: “One trend in market is use of green and recyclable materials. Glove manufacturers are emphasizing green manufacturing processes, technologies, and sustainability. Manufacturers, regulators, and marketers of hand protection products are laying stress on green manufacturing. Manufacturers are shifting their focus to green energy sources such as the sun and the wind. This helps reduce costs by decreasing the consumption of water and non-productive electricity. Various vendors are now considering options to reduce the amount of scrap produced and decrease their reliance on petrochemical resources.”

According to the report, one driver in market is growth in end-user industries. The growth of various end-user segments like manufacturing, chemicals, construction, mining, and metal fabrication has driven the growth of the global cut-resistant gloves market. These industries are adopting measures to ensure worker safety and prevent accidents in the workplace. It was found that every 15 seconds, 153 workers encounter a work-related accident. As per the International Monetary Fund, the manufacturing output globally will grow from 3.1% in 2016 to 3.4% in 2017, with a slow growth rate in advanced economies in North America and Europe. In developing regions such as India and China, the manufacturing segment is expected to grow at an accelerated rate. Many activities in the manufacturing industry require the use of PPE to protect the workers from any hazards.

Further, the report states that one challenges in market is price volatility of raw materials. The main raw material for gloves is latex derived from rubber. The fluctuation in the prices of rubber has caused a shift from rubber gloves to nitrile gloves. The cyclical nature of rubber prices is a major challenge for vendors. Prices of rubber products are dependent on prevailing global prices, which not only vary from one year to another but also fluctuate continuously within the same year. Global prices of rubber are determined by factors such as demand, inventory levels, production capacities, and competitive strategies adopted by vendors and hence, price levels are beyond the control of any single vendor. Natural rubber prices drastically declined during 2014-2015 due to the economic slowdown, sharp fall in crude oil prices, and subsequent decline in synthetic rubber prices. For instance, during this period, the natural rubber prices came down to an average of $1.95 from $2.44 in 2013-2014.

The study was conducted using an objective combination of primary and secondary information including inputs from key participants in the industry. The report contains a comprehensive market and vendor landscape in addition to a SWOT analysis of the key vendors.
