This report includes statistical data and analysis of nonwoven fabric production in Asia and provides detailed data for China, India, Indonesia, Japan, South Korea and Taiwan. In addition, the data are broken down by the type of nonwoven fabric produced, including: chemical bonded; thermal bonded; needle punched; spunlaced; spunbonded and meltblown; other dry-laid; and wet-laid.
China was Asias largest producer of nonwoven fabrics in 2022. However, production in the country was down compared with the previous year. Nonwoven fabric production was also down in Japan, South Korea and Taiwan. Elsewhere, there were increases in nonwoven fabric production in India and Indonesia.
Overall, nonwoven fabric production in Asia fell in 2022, representing the first fall in over 20 years, having been negatively impacted by global economic uncertainties. That said, production was still at its second highest level on record. Looking to the future, nonwoven fabric production in Asia is expected to return to growth in 2023 and expand at a healthy pace in the years ahead.
