The global cold heading machinery market was estimated at USD 3,567.75 million in 2015 and is projected to reach USD 4383.81 million by 2020, growing at a CAGR of 4.21% during the forecast period 2015 to 2020. Cold heading is the process of forming the heads of rivets, wood screw blanks, machine screw blanks and similar products, by employing different techniques like upsetting, forward extrusion and backward extrusion along the lengths of the wire when it is cold. The equipment that enables this process is called a cold-header, where the wire is fed from a coil into the machine and in which it is cut off and headed.

The cold heading machinery offer solutions to both the product manufacturing companies as well as suppliers. Based on the sectors served by the cold heading machines, the services/solutions offered can be categorized into four segments namely, automotive, aerospace & defense, electrical & appliances and industrial.

The automobile market accounted for more than 30% share of the global cold heading machinery market in 2015. This market is driven by numerous factors such as, growth in automotive industry and the rising demand for machine tools. However, this market faces certain drawbacks, including the slowdown in Chinese economy and setbacks in European machine tool manufacturing. These factors may act as roadblocks to the market.

Based on tooling, the market can be broadly segmented into Dies and Punches. Additionally, the report gives an overview of the technology of cold heading and its machinery. Machinery is classified into three categories based on its tooling configuration. The market has been geographically segmented into North America, Asia-Pacific, Europe, Middle East & Africa and South America, with North America occupying the largest consumer base in the world for cold heading machines. Europe and APAC follow the list in the same order. The emerging economies in the countries of Asia-Pacific have made this market an area of immense potential and opportunities.

The market has more relevance today since the trends show that there is an immense growth in the usage of industrial products. Cold-headed machinery is specifically inclined towards manufacturers who are looking for reliable part production with economical savings.

The major companies dominating this marker are Asahi Sunac Corporation, Carlo Salvi, Chun Yu Group (Chun Zu Machinery Ind. Co.
