About Alcoholic Drinks

Alcohol beverages can be classified into five product categories: beer, wine, spirits, cider, and ready-to-drink (RTD) pre-mixes. RTD pre-mixes have the least percent of alcohol, in terms of volume, than all other alcoholic drinks. In terms of volume, the consumption of beer is the highest among all other alcoholic drinks. Beer is prepared using a mixture of barley and wheat, and sprouted and roasted into malt. After this, it is cooked, fermented, and finally, flavored with hops.

The analysts forecast the global alcoholic drinks market to grow at a CAGR of 4.10% during the period 2017-2021.

Commenting on the report, an analyst from the research team said: “The latest trend gaining momentum in the market is Non-alcoholic and low-alcoholic drinks. The increasing trend of healthier lifestyles has led to the increasing demand for alcoholic drinks with a low volume of alcohol. Thus, consumers are tending toward lighter alcoholic drinks that pose less health risks. Low-alcoholic drinks contain 0.5% to 1.2% of alcohol by volume. Beers like Bud Light, Coors Light, and Miller Lite are some of the popular low-alcoholic beers in the US. Many vendors are launching light alcoholic drinks and flavored cocktails that are low in calorie and alcohol content. Non-alcoholic drinks are quite popular in Europe, the Americas, and also in some Middle Eastern countries. They are popular in countries like Germany, the US, the UK, and more.”

According to the report, one of the major drivers for this market is Premiumization of drinks. One of the most important factors that is impacting the growth of the market positively is the increased demand for premium alcoholic drinks. The demand for premium drinks is high due to the factor that premium alcoholic drinks provide a better taste and smoothness in every sip. Its demand is growing faster than the demand for regular priced alcoholic drinks. Even in mature markets, the premiumization trend is fueling the market. Premium alcoholic beverages are used as a status symbol. Hence, many manufacturers are coming up with products in premium alcoholic drinks segment. Some of the popular premium alcohol brands are Jack Daniels, Absolut, Kendall-Jackson, and others.

Further, the report states that one of the major factors hindering the growth of this market is Prominence of counterfeit products. The alcohol industry is under constant threat from the flourishing market of counterfeit alcohol products. Such items can affect the health of consumers to a great extent and lead to heavy revenue losses to manufacturers throughout the globe. Legal alcohols are made from ethanol and its moderate consumption is considered safe. However, fake alcohol products are made from other cheap raw materials that cause serious health concerns. Fake alcohol is also called as unrecorded alcohol and noncommercial alcohol.

The study was conducted using an objective combination of primary and secondary information including inputs from key participants in the industry. The report contains a comprehensive market and vendor landscape in addition to a SWOT analysis of the key vendors.
