During 2016, world textile and clothing trade declined, reflecting falls in textile trade and clothing trade. The world's biggest exporter of textiles in 2016 was China, followed by the EU and India. China was also the world's biggest exporter of clothing, followed by the EU and Bangladesh. Meanwhile, the EU was the world's biggest textile importer, followed by the USA and China. The EU was also the world's biggest clothing importer, followed by the USA and Japan.
