Asia-Pacific Water Treatment Chemicals Market is estimated to witness a CAGR of 7.51% during the forecasted period of 2018-2023. China is the largest market in terms of volume for the water treatment chemicals market. India is the second largest market in the Asia-Pacific region, only behind China. India being a developing country is a potential market due to various new industries being set up in the near future.

High Demand for Water Treatment Chemicals as Corrosion Inhibitors

One of the major requirements of Corrosion inhibitors chemicals is in Oil Rigs for the production of oil. Oil production is in itself a major market and it requires continuous monitoring and maintenance. Corrosion from saline water is one of oilrig’s main maintenance issues. Thus, with the high oil production activities in countries, like China, India, Thailand, and Vietnam, among others, there is an increase in the demand for water treatment chemicals as corrosion inhibitors. Other major application where corrosion inhibitors are highly demanded is the use of water as thermal fluid in cooling water system. Usually when water is used as a cooling agent it leads to problems, like corrosion, scale, and biological fouling processes. These phenomena are caused of the concentration of salts and suspended matters. Thus, to avoid these problems water treatment chemicals are used as corrosion inhibitors.

China is the largest market

The water treatment chemicals market of China is driven by numerous factors, like increasing demand for industrial wastewater treatment solutions, adverse climatic conditions and reduced fresh water content from saline intrusion. China is a fast growing economy with power, Aluminum, armaments, cement, chemicals, coal, fertilizers, food processing, iron, machine building, mining, and ore processing as the major industries, with power industry holding about 33% of Asia Pacific Water Treatment market. All these industries require water either as an input or give out wastewater as a byproduct. Both input and output water needs to be processed through chemical treatment. For example, most electric power generation plants require water for their day-to-day operations as input. The electric power generation industry is one of the major sources of industrial wastewater. Thus, water treatment chemicals market is fast growing in China.
