N-hexane is an alkane with the chemical formula C6H14 which is produced from crude oil. It belongs to straight-chain saturated aliphatic hydrocarbons and is highly volatile in nature. At room temperature, it appears as a clear colourless liquid with a characteristic odour. Owing to its distinct properties, it is used as an organic solvent in extraction of cooking oils, such as soybean, cottonseed, rapeseed, etc. It also finds applications in the production of rubber, pharmaceutical, perfume, footwear, leather, textiles, furniture and painting. In recent years, n-hexane has also been used as a diluting agent, can be used for the production of adhesives, or as an organic cleanser. This recently released report, titled “N-Hexane Market: Global Industry Trends, Share, Size, Growth, Opportunity and Forecast 2018-2023”, finds that the global n-hexane market reached a volume of 2.64 Million Tons in 2017, exhibiting a CAGR of around 3% during 2010-2017.

The global n-hexane market is currently being driven by a number of favourable factors. One of the primary factors is the rapidly growing demand for refined oils on account of population growth, particularly in the developing regions. The other end-use industries of n-hexane, such as healthcare, industrial solvents and adhesives, have also witnessed a surge as a result of global economic growth, thereby further propelling the demand for n-hexane. However, growing awareness and concerns regarding the environmental pollution caused by n-hexane has affected the market growth. According to the report, the market is further projected to reach a volume of 3 Million Tons by 2023.

The report has analysed the various end-use industries of n-hexane covering edible oil extraction, healthcare, industrial solvents, adhesive formulation, etc. Among these, the edible oil extraction segment represents the largest consumer of n-hexane, accounting for majority of the market share. On a regional basis, the report covers Asia Pacific, Europe, North America, Middle East and Africa, and Latin America. Currently, Asia Pacific represents the largest region, accounting for nearly half of the total global share. The report has also analysed the competitive landscape of the global n-hexane market with some of the key global players being Junyuan Petroleum, Sinopec, Rompetrol, Royal Dutch Shell, Exxon Mobil Corporation and Chevron Philips Chemicals LLC.

The report provides a comprehensive insight into the global n-hexane industry including its market break-up by region, market breakup by end-uses, SWOT analysis, Porter’s five forces analysis, value chain analysis, key players and market outlook. The report also gives an in-sight into the manufacturing process of n-hexane covering key success and risk factors for manufacturers, manufacturing process flow, raw materials requirements, etc.
