Hydrocracking Catalysts to Grow Rapidly

The heavy feed or residue from units such as atmospheric/ vacuum distillation units, decoking unit, visbreaker unit, and in some instances, from catalytic cracking unit is fed as feed to the hydrocracking unit. Hydrocracker unit upgrades the feed injected by cracking the feed at high temperatures in the presence of hydrogen and catalyst to produce distillate cuts such as jet fuel, diesel, and kerosene. Hydrocracking also reduces the sulfur content of the feed while processing, thus making the product viable for use in different countries. Increasing demand for jet fuel and diesel in the aerospace and automotive markets is likely to boost the demand for hydrocracking catalysts at a significant rate during the forecast period.

Brazil Dominating the Refining Catalysts Market

Brazil's refinery capacity is about 2,289 thousand barrels per day, which constitutes 2.3% of the world’s refining capacity. Brazil has total 17 oil refineries, out of which, Petrobras is managing 14 refineries. Despite the recession, domestic prices of gasoline and diesel in Brazil remained above the global market prices. The refinery projects have been put on hold in the country, which, in turn, increases the imports of petroleum products in the coming years. This is expected to affect the refining catalyst market over the forecast period.
