A helping hand: Increased government funding is boosting revenue for universities
Revenue for the Universities industry has climbed higher despite some significant difficulties in recent years. The Annual Maximum Fee Movement (AMFM) figure put in place each year by the New Zealand Government (Te Kawanatanga o Aotearoa) for tertiary education institutions is limiting revenue growth. Meanwhile, domestic students' fees are becoming lower, as fee rises are being outpaced by inflation, which is encouraging domestic enrolments to grow.
The industry includes accredited tertiary education providers that provide undergraduate and postgraduate teaching, as defined under the Education and Training Act 2020.
