The wind tower height has grown tremendously in the past few years as the wind blows more steadily at high altitudes, which helps increase the energy generated from wind turbines. The increase in height of wind towers has resulted in the increased size of rotors, blades, and also the total potential production from wind turbines.

Further, the report states that one challenge in the market is competition from fossil fuels. According to the IEA, renewable energy, including solar PV energy, hydro energy, and wind energy, alone accounted for 23% share of electricity generation in 2015. Wind energy has not been able to overcome the wide use of fossil fuels.
