In recent years, the 1,4-dichlorobenzene industry's concentration ratio has been creeping up. Most of the capacity is concentrated in the top five producers who produce most of China's 1,4-dichlorobenzene at present. As of H1 2018, there are about 10 1,4-dichlorobenzene producers in China. Of these, only five producers have the capacity of over 5,000 t/a.

Some producers have been expanding their 1,4-dichlorobenzene capacity in China in recent years. In 2016, Jiangsu Huaijiang completed its new production line for 1,4-dichlorobenzene. And its 1,4-dichlorobenzene capacity will reach 80,000 t/a after testing of all the production lines. Wuhai Jingda, former Jinzhou Feilong Industrial Co., Ltd., has increased its capacity from 2,000 t/a to 10,000 t/a. Wuhai Jingda produced 1,4-dichlorobenzene in Hebei Province before but had relocated all its 1,4-dichlorobenzene production lines to Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region in 2014.

1,4-Dichlorobenzene has been included in the List of IARC Group 2B carcinogens by the International Agency for Research on Cancer since Oct. 2017, although it was quite popular as an insect-resist agent in daily chemical field in the past. Demand from daily chemicals for 1,4-dichlorobenzene has decreased.
