India is endowed with vast mineral deposits including coal, iron ore, bauxite, manganese, copper, lead, zinc, and limestone. However, over the forecast period, coal imports are expected to shrink, supported by various government policies to boost country production, such as auctioning coal blocks to private companies, taking steps to ease clearances, and creating trouble free land acquisition and improved coal transportation facilities.
Some of the coal mining projects expected to commence operations through the forecast period include the Kapuria and Pachra Integrated mines in Jharkhand, Khadia Expansion and JalagamVengala Rao OC-II projects located in Madhya Pradesh and Telangana, and Hadla-Bhteyan project in Rajasthan.
