Gas Processing Industry Outlook in North America to 2023 - Capacity and Capital Expenditure Outlook with Details of All Operating and Planned Processing Plants

Summary

The US will drive growth in North America's gas processing industry from planned and announced plants between 2019 and 2023. 117 planned and announced gas processing plants are expected to start operations in North America, with a total processing capacity of 20,545 mmcfd, by 2023. The US is expected to add around 17,533 million cubic feet per day (mmcfd) of gas processing capacity during the forecast period from 86 planned and announced gas processing plants, between 2019 and 2023.

In the US, booming shale gas production and increasing demand of natural gas, from the industrial and power generation sector, is driving the country’s new-build gas processing capacity additions. Canada is the only other country in North America for gas processing capacity additions. The country is expected to witness the start of all 31 planned and announced gas processing plants operations; with a total processing capacity of 3,012 mmcfd during the period 2019-2023.

In terms of gas processing capacity, among the upcoming gas processing plants in North America, Bighorn and Smithburg II-VI gas processing plants will lead with 999 mmcfd, each by 2023. The Diamond gas processing plant follows with 600 mmcfd of processing capacity. All three gas processing plants are being planned in the US.
